Scott Anderson "The Unraveling of the Arab World"

Scott Anderson is a war correspondent and novelist who has covered foreign conflicts on four continents over the past three decades. Scott's landmark piece, “Fractured Lands,” in the August 14, 2016 issue of the New York Times Magazine traced the lives of six people through the Arab Spring and was the longest published article in the history of the New York Times. His most recent book, Lawrence in Arabia: War, Deceit, Imperial Folly and the Making of the Modern Middle East was a National Book Critics Award finalist and an international bestseller. He is the author of two novels, Triage and Moonlight Hotel, and his earlier non-fiction books include The Man Who Tried to Save the World, The 4 O'Clock Murders, and War Zones. His work has also appeared in Vanity Fair, Esquire, Harper’s, Outside, Men’s Journal and many other national and international publications.

Onno Ruding "Brexit, the Euro, Refugees, Nationalism, and the Trump Presidency: Can Europe Cope?"

H. Onno Ruding worked at the Ministry of Finance, The Hague, Amsterdam-Rotterdam Bank (AMRO Bank), and, later, as a member of the Board of Managing Directors of AMRO and Chairman of AMRO International Ltd. He was elected Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington, D.C. in 1976 and held that post for four years. He also served as the Minister of Finance of The Netherlands, for the Christian Democratic Party (CDA). He first became a Director of Citicorp in July 1990 and was later appointed Vice Chairman of Citicorp/Citibank in New York.  After the merger of Citicorp and Travelers Group into Citigroup, in 1998, he served as Vice Chairman and Director of Citicorp and Citibank N.A. He became Chairman of the Board of the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, the largest independent think-tank in Europe addressing subjects related to European integration. After he retired from this chairmanship, he became Honorary Chairman and remained on the Board of CEPS. In October 2008 the European Commission appointed him as a member of the High Level Expert Group on EU financial supervision. He is the author of “There is more at stake than just money; articles and speeches 1992-2002”, “Market and Morals” and of many other publications on international and Dutch banking, monetary policy, and taxation, as well as on political matters.

Lisa Schineller "Challenges Facing Latin America Amid Increased Global Uncertainty"

Lisa M. Schineller is a director in the Sovereign Ratings Department and Economist for Latin America at Standard & Poor's (S&P). In her role as Economist, she works closely with S&P’s economic team in formulating S&P’s economic forecasts and publications for the Latin America region. Lisa is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She codeveloped and co-teaches a course entitled “Problems of Economic Growth in Latin America.” Before joining Standard & Poor’s, Lisa worked in the International Finance Division at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington DC as the French desk economist and world oil economist. She was also an economist at Exxon Company International, Corporate Affairs. At Exxon, she analyzed and projected economic and energy developments in Latin America (mainly Brazil) and Europe.

Vali Nasr "The Middle East and the World in the Wake of US Elections"

Vali Nasr is a Middle East scholar, foreign policy adviser and commentator on international relations whose recent book The Dispensable Nation takes a critical look at U.S. foreign policy in the Obama White House. Prior to being named SAIS dean, Nasr was a professor of international politics at Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. From 2009 to 2011, he was special adviser to the president's special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. He served on the faculties of the Naval Postgraduate School, Stanford University, the University of California, San Diego and the University of San Diego. He was a Carnegie Scholar and a senior fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and an adjunct senior fellow for Middle Eastern studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. He is currently a senior fellow in foreign policy at the Brookings Institution, a member of the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Affairs Policy Board, and director of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the National Democratic Institute.

Jenik Radon "The Panama Papers: Offshore Banking, Corruption, and the Fallout"

Jenik Radon is Adjunct Professor at the School of Public and International Affairs, Columbia University, where he teaches in the area of sustainable natural resource development with a focus on risk and strategic management, sovereignty and human rights, especially environment, minority rights (including social license) and anti-corruption.  Radon is currently co-teaching an inaugural and timely class at Columbia titled “Panama Papers.” He is the founder and director of the Eesti and Eurasian Public Service Fellowship, which has provided students from Columbia, Stanford Law School and other institutions the opportunity to intern with government officials and civil society in emerging nations across the global, including Bhutan, Cambodia, Estonia, Georgia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nepal, Philippines, Tanzania and Uganda.  Radon is a recipient of SIPA's "Top Five" teaching award for the spring 2010 and 2013 semesters.

Michael Mandelbaum "Mission Failure: America and the World in the Post-Cold War Era"

Michael Mandelbaum is a Johns Hopkins foreign policy specialist and bestselling author. The New York Times called him "one of the country's leading public intellectuals," and Foreign Policy magazine named him one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers. Mandelbaum is the author or co-author of 16 books, including his latest book, 2016's Mission Failure: America and the World in the Post-Cold War Era. Thomas Friedman said, "A must-read...it's going to be one of the most talked about foreign policy books of the year." Mandelbaum is currently the Christian A. Herter Professor Emeritus of American Foreign Policy at The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He has previously taught at Columbia University, Harvard, and The United States Naval Academy. The World Affairs Councils of America named him one of the most influential people in American foreign policy. He has been a guest on Charlie Rose, Face The Nation, and The Daily Show.

In this position, he provides legislative and advocacy outreach, research and writing, and legal analysis. Tyler is a graduate of the Boston University School of Law, where he specialized in the U.S. sanctions on Iran and the Iran nuclear issue. His writings focus on U.S. foreign policy, the politics of the Middle East, and developments in international law. Cullis has published in The New York Times, CNN, The Hill, and Huffington Post

Lisel Hintz "Talking Turkey: Power and Presidency in the Post-Putsch Era"

Dr. Lisel Hintz is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department of Barnard College, Columbia University. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science from George Washington University, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University's Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies. Hintz has participated on several panels on the Syrian refugee crisis, the Kurdish conflict, and the fight against ISIS, and has provided commentary to or written op-eds for BBC World News, Foreign Policy, The Washington Post (Monkey Cage blog), The Boston Globe, and Hürriyet Daily News (Turkey's largest English-language newspaper). She has published articles in European Journal of International Relations, Project on Middle East Political Science, The Washington Review of Turkish and Eurasian Affairs, and Turkish Policy Quarterly.

Vesna Pusić "The International Community and the Future of Conflict Intervention"

Vesna Pusić currently serves as the Deputy Speaker of the Croatian Parliament and the honorary president of the Croatian People’s Party - Liberal Democrats. Ms. Pusić is also a current candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. She is an active and passionate advocate of European integration, gender equality, and LGBT rights. In 1979, Ms. Pusić co-founded the first women’s rights organization in the former Yugoslavia, and in 1992 she co-founded Erasmus Guild, a non-partisan think-tank on the culture of democracy. In 2000, Ms. Pusić was elected as a member of the Croatian Parliament where she served for three consecutive terms. Additionally, Dr. Pusić served as the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs in the Cabinet of former Croatian Prime Minister, Zoran Milanović.
